THE FIRST EDITION OF GRACEVINE
31 OCTOBER 2024
We are excited to present the first edition of GraceVine, the Cape Lutheran Church’s monthly newsletter. We trust that GraceVine will make a significant contribution in rediscovering and nourishing our church’s identity and calling. We hope it will assist in the functioning of our church and in developing good relationships within and outside our church. Through GraceVine we also want to give a credible witness to the world we are living in.
Erika Gerntholtz, our newly appointed media officer, will serve as the editor of GraceVine. Pastor Anja Spiske proposed the beautiful new name of the newsletter. On the one hand, GraceVine playfully reminds us of the tongue-in-cheek English expression “hearing something along the grapevine”. The newsletter is not intended to only convey “heavy stuff”!
On the other hand, it also reminds us that we are the branches that, by remaining in Jesus the vine, are constantly nourished by his grace (John 15).
We hope that GraceVine will be colourful and interesting – filled with news from the Bishop’s Office as well as from the different local churches, announcements and information about events, youth matters; human stories, and material equipping us for our ministry in and through the church.
GraceVine will be published and distributed electronically. We hope to make it as accessible and user-friendly as possible.
Everybody is invited to send in stories or contribute something.
